oh hey, friday! | gina...the bride

Friday, August 29, 2014
i want to take you fine folk on a trip of yesteryear.

you see...i felt inspired this week because one of my very bestie-besties is getting married. her name is gina...and we go back. well...just back to 2001, but that's darn near 15 years (13 years) which is practically 20 years. see...that's a long time.

so gina...as avid of a reader of my blog you are, enjoy this dedication, but first...

1 | write up a little post about five things. anythings

2 | head back over here and enter your link at the bottom of this post.

3 | and pretty please don't forget to link back to our blogs and/or add the oh hey, friday! button (found just below) by copying the HTML into the HTML section of your post  so that others can link up as well! that's it. now get busy.

MY FIVE

1 | gina and i have many-a-memory together...and why most of those memories involve libations and bad decisions...well, that's just something we're going to embrace - that our friendship was largely built on one or both of us being wa-wa-wasted. not to mention...i was carrying about 20 extra pounds in my face alone.
2 | to give you a touch of background, gina started as besties with my sister...but being the awesome annoying little sister that i am...i wedged my way firmly into their friend group. when gina and my sister lived in boston together, i decided i should live in boston too...for at least a few months.
since then, we've gotten comfortable enough to wear comfy pants after we've eaten too much, run on the same relay team most every year, and i even got to witness my gal wakeboard for the very first time.
3 | gina also loves my farmer nearly as much as i do. at least that's what i noticed as i was looking through all these oldies. hands off gina. need i remind you you're becoming a mrs. in a few days?
that's her groom, matt, on the right
4 | the very best part of our twisted, intoxicated friendship is that her groom and i used to hang out. it's true. i tried to date him. but he just didn't have eyes for me...or something like that. so after i moved on to my farmer these two lovebirds started getting love-birdy-ish...and they never looked back. well...maybe one time they looked back...i think.
it was probably after matt saw the way gina manhandled this bull during one of our pub-golf outings. girlfriend takes no prisoners.
5 | so on sunday...many many of our friends will be gathered from all over the country to celebrate this good-looking couple.
i have to say...i'm pretty excited (read - disappointed) that i'll be as big as a house and as sober as i've ever been with this gal. but at least i'll remember their big day of celebration...and that's saying something.
xo gina + matt.

oh! and i darn, near forgot. this is the last day to get your 30% OFF discount on my group giveaway ad space! just enter the code GIVEAWAY30 and you're set. OR you can enter the code CONFESS30  for 30% off my saturday confessional spot. both ads get you in the BIG BIRTHDAY MONTH GIVEAWAY...that i have yet to start planning. sheesh.

oh hey friday! | IT'S MOST CERTAINLY STILL ON

anyway...i'm super excited about my oh hey, friday! tomorrow because it's going to be a little blast from the past. i don't want to give too many details away...but just know i'm excited.

and of course...if you're new to oh hey, friday! here's the info...

sometimes when you wake up like a b*tch-face

Wednesday, August 27, 2014
short and sweet today, folks. and for good reason.

i woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
but my poor farmer...he got the brunt of my craziness first thing this morning. it started with him putting together breakfast for kaye. i know...what a jerk.

then he wanted to take her around the farm to do chores. which really entails them driving around getting in some good daddy/daughter time. double-jerk.

then i accused him of hiding a container of blueberries i bought yesterday...more on that later.

there was a brief moment of love in my heart when i saw him clipping his fingernails outside. i love when he clips his fingernails outside...because they don't end up all over my floor.

but then he left the door open...and nothing drives me more crazy than a door left open because of the hellacious fly problem we have. how dare he leave a door open. a total punishable act.

that snowballed into me realizing he was watering our lawn...which is bad because we have company coming over mid-morning. but water our lawn? definitely grounds for me to put him on my annoying list.

can we please keep in mind that this all happened before 8 am?

fast-forward about five minutes when i realized i had actually thrown an entire, brand new container of blueberries away in our outside garbage can and about 30 seconds after that i tripped UP our porch steps...which can be less than ideal in a pregnant state.

what i'm saying is -

#1 - i'm crazy-town.
#2 - how many times can i blame pregnancy hormones?
#3 - i owe my farmer a big "i'm sorry, " a hug, and a kiss...if he'll accept any/all of it.

poor farmer. but how could anyone ever be annoyed with this guy? i mean...he wears speedos.
let's throw this morning to the birds and have a little redo. i just hope my farmer comes back with my turtle so i can hang my head in shame and ask for forgiveness.

a guest post you'll definitely want to read | chelsea @ east willow grove

here's the deal-io. see the gorgeous blonde below?

#1 - if you scroll down further you'll see she's just as smokin' with dark hair.
#2 - she has equally as cute mini-boys...and that man she snagged isn't half bad, himself.
#3 - chelsea was kind enough to realize how exhausted i am with all this pregnant whosy-whatsy and offered to take over my blog for the day. and...
#4 - if chelsea isn't careful i'm going to hire her to be a weekly guest poster. she's absolutely fantastic.

chelsea - do your thing, gal.

Guten Morgen! Ich bin Chelsea und schreib bei East Willow Grove. Wait, did I loose you? Oh so you don't speak German? Fine, I'll talk to you in English I suppose!

Whats up September FARM readers! Karli has her little pregnant feet up today and you get me instead, I'm Chelsea and I blog over at East Willow Grove. Yes I do speak German, although I'm losing it rather fast because I don't speak it nearly as much as I should!

While Karli's farmer will be surrounded by all women, I live quite the opposite life! I'm a mama to two little blonde haired, blue eyed boys. Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Some might say it's very cliche that I work in the auto industry. Some might also say that I'm living life a little backwards.
You see, I started off my post high-school life in Chicago, attending fashion school but when I realized I wanted to go to a bigger university, so I packed up and moved back to Michigan. Instead of heading back east to the D, I went west to the beach {Grand Rapids} and attended Grand Valley State. Four amazing and unforgettable years flew by and I graduated with a degree in German and International business and like most, had no freaking clue what I wanted to do.
Time for the backwardness.

11 months after the BF and I graduated college we found out we were pregnant with our first little blondie! Tracen was born a month early and was in the NICU for 10 days. We then brought him home on NYE 2010. We both landed our first "big kid jobs" a few months after. Fast forward a few and we welcomed our second little blondie, Skylor 3 weeks early at the end of July 2013. Although he was early he was a whopping 8 lbs 6 oz {imagine if I went full-term!}

Most recently, we bought our first home at the end of March and have been remodeling it ever since! There are two questions we ALWAYS get asked though:

1. Are you going to have more kids?
2. When are you going to get married?

While both are valid questions I wish people would just understand that I'm basically a blonde version of Kourtney Kardashian. Although my skin isn't as glowingly beautiful as hers and my bank account is slightly lower, we're pretty much the same people. So my answer for you my friends is, when Kourtney gets married I will. I guess this also means I should start trying to get knocked up again if I want to "keep up." All kidding aside we are very happy with our life and while we haven't followed the "normal" adult route we wouldn't change it! Plus when we do get married you will all get to see it here, cool right? right!

Moving on from marriage and more kids my blog is packed full of other topics, such as things I would tell my 18 year old self, monthly goalshome remodels, inspired makeup looks, and much more. I suppose you'd say it's the epitome of a lifestyle blog! While I love blogging I also have a huge passion for creating and editing videos for my youtube channel. Although I post mostly vlogs you will also find look books and make-up and hair related videos there as well.
Hopefully you have enjoyed a peak into my life living with a houseful of boys! Where there is never enough room for me in the bed and I drink more coffee than I should be allowed to. And Karli, if you wanna do some arranged marriages, holla atcha girl! {kidding, kinda} But for real, if you don't mind a few crap ton pictures of some cute kids, home remodeling or girly makeup and hair talk then I think we can totally be internet friends, or maybe just real friends because what's a few IP addresses in-between people anyway!
___________________________________________
that's our gal, gals. chelsea. gorgeous. pulls off pink lipstick like no one i've ever seen. and basically more rad than i'll ever be. and don't tell my farmer she speaks german...based purely on our last name...i have a feeling he'd be into it.

and because i don't want you to miss out on one ounce of east willow grove...you can find her all over the place!

31 week stats | farm gal #2

Monday, August 25, 2014
this weekend we may have gone a little crazy with our company party. we invited our employees and their families over to enjoy a giant water slide, some food, dessert, and drink. it was going to be great because it's be so so H-O-T here as of late. like 100º+. but wouldn't you know it...75º showed up with 20 mph winds. i was nearly positive we were going to be one of those families on the news where the bounce house blows away with kids inside.

spoiler - our bounce slide didn't blow away.

but good news...since the party wasn't until sunday we obviously had to get some practice rounds in...you know...so we could show everybody how to style it on their way down.
i'm 110% this is not how you're supposed to use a bounce slide...but my farmer clearly has it dialed in.

and i know what you're thinking...wha wha. karli's pregnant. she didn't get to do the bounce slide.

well, pump the brakes...i beg to differ.
like mother like daughter. no big deal.

of all the ways i could have gone down the slide...on my side stomach seemed like the least lame. and while it still appears to be lame...it wasn't. that slide was fast.

now onto the important stuff...like how much weight have i gained and how gross is my belly button.

31 WEEK STATS | farm gal #2

WEIGHT GAIN | i'm up 12 pounds. i'm nearly positive i'm not supposed to be gaining a pound per week yet, but...that seems to be the case.

this also seems to be a great time to tell you that the weight is redistributing itself in my body and me-no-likey. my boo-tay is getting flatter by the day, while my boo-bays are getting larger by the hour. some women may think this is great. but trust me...this is not great in my situation. bring on the triple-strapped grandma bras with five clasps in the back that only come in nude-sheen. (see what i mean...not great.)

now let's talk about my bellybutton. it's gross and still an inny...but not for long. i literally cannot even touch it. gag.

but on a very positive note i have no signs of stretch marks...except for the marks i received as a badge of passage my freshman year of college when no ice cream or chicken strip was safe.
WORKOUTS | is mowing the lawn a workout? kind of? because i did that twice this week. when you're married to a farmer who grows green for a living...your lawn gets fertilized and watered far too often. but it sure is green.

regardless...i did managed to get in about eight miles of walking/running this week, plus a gymnastics class with kaye and a lot of errand-running. also workouts in my opinion.

the workouts took a back seat this week because there are just so many projects i want to work on while kaye naps. however...i know how good i feel when the workout is over, so my goal this week is to get 45 minutes of cardio for five days this week. i also need to increase my water intake by like...a lot.

CLOTHING | we had the first signs of cooler weather this past week and i loved it. it was finally comfortable to wear my maternity jeans...now we just need it to drop another 10 degrees and i'll be able to pull of the tall boots and leggings. i'm also a huge scarf fan (to hide the ladies) so it'll be nice when i can throw one of those on too.

but for now i sit tight with my maxi dresses and yoga pants...lots and lots of yoga pants.
GENDER | i've gone pink crazy. i'm going to start adding some pink accents to the green + navy nursery. i purchased some pink crib sheets. i'll need to start my hunt for some girly accessories like frames and art to fill those frames.

obviously...turtle 2.0 is a girl if you're just now following along!

also, in case you missed it, i posted some gender reveal cupcakes AND pictures a few weeks ago.

CRIES THIS WEEK | remember all that bragging i was doing about me being totally sane during this pregnancy and not crying and totally keeping my cool?

that went straight out the window this week. maybe it's because i wasn't working out like i should have been. yes...that's it.

i cried three times this week. once after kaye's gymnastics class because she threw an epic fit in the costco parking lot. like...so big we literally had to load back up and leave. this wouldn't be a huge deal...except we live over an hour away. cue the crying.

and i cried two more times on saturday because...because i can't remember. i know it started out of frustration because kaye wouldn't go down for her nap...but other than that...i have no clue.

my farmer is gearing up for an emotional final nine weeks. poor guy.

CRAVINGS | negative. i've been trying to eat much healthier because i have terrible guilt when i indulge too much. so i figure if i can at least put good calories in during the day, the bowl of ice cream i've been eating EVERY night should be fine. right? it's logical.

PURCHASES | pottery barn sent me a 15% off coupon for being a "great customer." also known as - you spend so much money here this 15% off won't make a difference.

so i ordered a few small things...one being a new dresser for farmer and me...and kaye will get our old one. it had to be done. someone in the house was going to get a new dresser and i didn't think the two year old would care all that much. she's sweet like that.

i also managed to get a new lamp, kitchen rug...and i may have ordered a bathroom vanity in hopes it will inspire my farmer to get busy on our bathroom downstairs.

let's have a cry-free week ladies.

and now...the forgotten summer recap...
3 | you may or may not know, but my farmer bought a short school bus at the beginning of the summer. well, on a super hot day, we stopped by this gal's house, snatched up her and the family, and took off to go cherry picking. however, the cherry picking wasn't the best part. it was watching these two love each other...and of course observing kaye get repeatedly caught in the cherry tree netting.
4 | our mccall getaway about a month ago was so so, so much fun. we managed to squeeze in lots of lake time, some biking, some walking, some family time, and of course...s'mores.

5 | and of course...lots of backyard pool time. with a top, or without...it's fun regardless. i mean...i don't think i could pull off topless swimming, but my turtle...she's got that in the bag for at least one or two more years.
let's go out and enjoy the rest of our warm summer days...and daydream of crisp fall mornings, boots, scarves...and not being pregnant.

oh! and if you're linking up...do that too.

joey + maria | a wedding recap according to a pregnant gal

Thursday, August 21, 2014
so...i think it's safe to say that being pregnant isn't like...super duper fun at a wedding.

you can't dance hard.
you can't drink hard.
and you get full super fast resulting in far fewer trips to the dessert table than what one might prefer.

(don't get me wrong...i was able to get quite a few  down, but not as many i would have liked.)

regardless, put a gal in some fresh air, sans turtle and you've got yourself a recipe for relaxation.

but let me back up.
our little getaway started in denver where we met up with some of my farmer's very best college buddies...and let me say, what a wonderful group of guys. pretty nerdy, but wonderful nonetheless. and by nerdy, i mean they were all part of the nerdy fraternity in college. literally. but it paid off! now they are engineers, lawyers, president of a company, pharmaceutical/medical sales (that one doesn't sound nerdy, but he's nerdy)...and a farmer (but he was an engineer).
see? total nerds.

so we started in denver at a rockies game - they won.
the next day we made our way a few hours south (i think) towards a little town called divide, co. but before we got there, during one of my 20 bathroom stops we stopped at a little tourist attraction called garden of the gods. if we had explored more, there were some pretty fantastic hikes, but i just needed the bathroom.
we checked into our little vrbo find and it was so lovely! the very best part is all you had to do was walk through a few gates and across a pasture of llamas to get to the wedding site where all the festivities were going down, like a little campfire and s'mores. yes please.
the next day was even more chill than the previous. we took full advantage of being turtle-free and headed a few miles into a larger town for delicious starbucks and doughnuts. i also snagged myself a cute mug as a little memento. i love starbucks mugs. they are giant.

after getting sufficiently hopped up on caffeine and sugar we went for a walk/jog, took no pictures, my farmer ditched me in the woods...and then it was time to get ready for the wedding. (seriously...apparently my walk/jog wasn't sufficient enough of a pace for the groom and my farmer. i was totally abandoned on the trail. harsh.)
but then, it was wedding time. we made our way through the gates, llamas, and pasture...drinks in hand.
the wedding was stunning (after a five minute downpour).
the bride and groom are absolutely fantastically, wonderful, top-notch people. we couldn't have been more thrilled to celebrate with them.
the wedding details were perfectly mountain-inspired, DIY.
did i mention the food and desserts were delicious?

oh...and my farmer missed our gal so much he coerced four little girls into dancing with him. i would have been jealous, but i was too full.
on our last day we said our goodbyes and headed back to the airport. i'd like to say we never wanted our vay-cay to end, but that would be such a lie. we missed our turtle so so so much. it was absolute heaven to get her back in my arms.
regardless, it's strongly recommended that you steal your man away for getaways like this. i know these things...i'm a doctor. (i'm not a doctor.)

changing gears.

i wanted to remind everyone that our glorious oh hey, friday! linkup is TOMORROW! so get your posts ready!

1 | write up a little post about five things. anythings. five dreams. five things that happened this past week. five goals. five of your favorite recipes...literally anything you want.
